By registering for the Show, all retailers get three days of free skiing at Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) Resorts while all other attendees can ski, ride and slide for free at Winter Park and Devil’s Thumb Ranch, during the On-Snow Demo/Free Ride Fest.
“Having the Show in Colorado is a HUGE plus! Being able to do our business at the trade show and on-snow demo in one shot saves us time and money! Oh Yea, did you hear, there’s Free Skiing!!” Joe Rauscher-Joe’s Ski Shop, St. Paul, MN

JOIN THE INDUSTRY ON SNOW FOR THE FIRST ON-SNOW DEMO AND FREE RIDE FEST
Following the Snow Show, SIA will host the first international two-day On-Snow Demo & Free Ride Fest at Winter Park Resort and Devil’s Thumb Ranch on February 1-2, 2010. We wanted to update the industry on the latest details of the demo and free ride fest. The inaugural event is a joint two day on-snow demo for hardgoods buyers, along with an open ski, ride and slide festival for the rest entire industry; softgoods buyers, shop staff, brand reps, company management, media, industry professionals and athletes. With free tickets to Winter Park and Devil’s Thumb, Snow Show attendees are invited to take in the events and get out on the hill to do what we all do best, be on snow.
The alpine and snowboard demos, including AT/backcountry and telemark, will take place in conjunction with WWSRA (Western Winter Sports Representatives Association) and the Rocky Mountain Demo at Winter Park. The Nordic demo will be held at nearby Devil’s Thumb Ranch in partnership with CCSAA (Cross Country Ski Areas Association), which maintains a world class Nordic center. Complimentary shuttles will run between the two locations. SIA will also provide transportation from downtown Denver to Winter Park, both days of the event.
Winter Park Resort is Colorado's longest continually operated ski resort featuring over 3,000 acres of award-winning terrain including groomers, terrain parks, bumps, steeps, trees, and most definitely deeps. It is definitely a jewel of Colorado, from its progressive parks to its newly remolded village. Last season, Winter Park Resort received 378 inches of snow much in part to its ideal location amidst the Rocky Mountains.
“As a not-for-profit Association, WWSRA is really excited to partner with SIA, who has the resources and ability to bring a higher level of retail hospitality to the Rocky Mountain Demo. Partnering with SIA has also brought a greater level of attention to an event WWSRA has been hosting for over 30 years. Our hope is that this event will shed some light on the importance of on-snow demos and the testing of product to the buy/sell cycle. We truly hope that retailers, both regionally and nationally, will take advantage of this event while in Colorado for the SIA Snow Show and see what the Rocky Mountains have to offer!” Morgan Turner, WWSRA President & Rocky Mountain Sales Rep for Giro Sports.
More than 100 exhibitors are expected be at the On-Snow Demo giving hardgoods buyers the opportunity to test the industry’s newest skis, snowboards, boots and tools in the environment they were intended – on snow. In addition to the hardgoods buyer-specific demos, SIA will also host a Festival themed event.
"Combining with SIA for the demo and utilizing their resources should wind up great for the retailer. Just by providing a few free lift tickets on either end of the Show rolls out the welcome mat for folks across the country, and the demo at Winter Park will be a top notch event for folks to test equipment on a great mountain, network and enjoy what we sell to the end consumer." Gags, US Snow Sales Manager at Never Summer and WWSRA Rocky Mountain Board Member.
The Official Nordic Demo for cross country and snowshoe will be February 1 with February 2 still open for buyers to try out product and take in the beautiful Nordic Center. On February 1, the Nordic community will again host its Annual Salmon & Aquavit Party at Devil’s Thumb Ranch.
Devil's Thumb Ranch's history as a premier Nordic and Cross Country Center comes from its high standards with regard to trail maintenance and grooming, environmental commitment and preservation of 5,000 acres and 100+ Km of Nordic Trails as well as its reputation in hosting and organizing premier Nordic events and races including the prestigious Governor's Cup Race and Festival, and Colorado International.
“We're all very excited over the addition of an on-snow demo for the SIA Show and especially the fabulous Devil’s Thumb Ranch (DTR) location. Nordic buyers are gonna be blown away by the natural beauty & majesty of the Ranch resort. You’ve just got to love the resort for its green conscience. Can you believe it's really geo-thermal heated? During the CCSAA Convention there 2 years ago, we called DTR a temple to the Nordic gods. I hope the Nordic worshippers come out in droves to test the gear at the SIA demo. I predict they'll be impressed. SIA's going all out for a first-class Nordic demo. Wahoo!” Chris Frado, Executive Director/President, CCSAA.
Registration for the On-Snow Demo/Free Ride Fest includes free transportation, free lunches, free tickets to Winter Park and Devil’s Thumb and free rentals, for those who need or choose not to travel with their equipment. ATTENTION EXHIBITORS: GIVE A SNEAK PEAK OF YOUR NEWEST MOST INNOVATIVE PRODUCT TO RETAILERS, MEDIA, & CONSUMERS...FOR FREE!
Each year, the SIA Show has hosted a series of special exhibits highlighting products, trends and technologies for different segments of the snow sports market. With our new move to Denver, it's a great time to change it up, so we are! We'll produce one large exhibit, INNOVATIONS, NOW, that will offer each of you the opportunity to display your SINGLE best new product in any or all of the following categories: alpine ski, snowboard, AT, telemark, backcountry, cross country, snowshoe, kids, fashion, and accessories. Open to all exhibitors, participation is limited to one special product per brand and/or category and one full outfit for fashion.
INNOVATIONS, NOW will be located on the first floor of the Colorado Convention Center. Retailers will be able to visit this one area to see the new trends in snow sports. There will be a big push to the media inviting them to check out the latest and hottest products as they plan their winter 2010/2011 editorial. This area will also be open to consumers, giving them a sneak peak of what they'll see in retail shops next fall.
Backshop Garage/Rental World exhibit is continuing for 2010 and will be located upstairs, inside the Show Hall. Presented by SAM Magazine, the exhibit will have similarities to years past with some new twists that will be announced shortly. The latest in backshop and rental products and equipment will be on display to give rental buyers the opportunity to one-stop-shop.
“Rental World has played an integral role in driving potentially new rental dealers to our booth during the SIA Show. Displaying product in these special exhibits should be a prerequisite. The SIA and SAM staffs bring a dedication and excitement to rental that is reflected in Rental World. We at Dalbello/Elan thoroughly support and appreciate their efforts.” Matt Titus, Dalbello-Elan Sports
INNOVATIONS, NOW is presented by our industry partners; Backcountry Magazine, CCSAA, Cross Country Skier, Freeskier, SBC Media and Snowboard Canada’s Women’s Annual, SkiTrax and Winter Feels Good. SAM Magazine is the return presenter of Backshop Garage/Rental World.
Participation in INNOVATIONS, NOW and Backshop Garage/Rental World is FREE to all SIA Exhibitors. Contact Ingrid Niehaus to participate at Ingridn2@mindspring.com. There is limited space available. The deadline is December 1 or earlier if the exhibit fills up before this date.
