Retailer Of The Year Award

East Coast Alpine - Danvers, MA

East Coast Alpine is committed to providing top-of-the-line products and expert service to families of skiers, snowboarders and bikers in Boston, and the Massachusetts North Shore. The East Coast Alpine team is passionate about the outdoor lifestyles they live and bring that enthusiasm to their customers when finding the right equipment.

Owned and operated by John Sullivan, he entered the snow sports industry in 1988. In 1994 he took his interests west, graduating college 20 miles outside Crested Butte, Colorado. In 2002, he opened Ski Shop North in Danvers, MA with a partner. Then in 2007, John bought out his partner and opened a second location, completely renovating a 12,000 square foot space, installing state-of-the-art tuning and torque testing machines, projection screens and a 100-foot ski and snowboard wall.

In October 2010, East Coast Alpine opened its third location at 860 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston. Again, John raised the bar, creating a truly modern snow sports shop with 17,000 square feet of the best gear available.

Then in November 2010, East Coast Alpine became the ski retailer for one of the largest ski and snowboard expos in the country, the Boston Globe Ski and Snowboard Expo which reaches over 45,000 people and sells millions of dollars in snow sports equipment in a 4 day sale.

East Coast Alpine also operates an online retail store at www.eastcoastalpine.com.

With the support of the vendors and their representatives, East Coast Alpine is dedicated to keeping specialty shops the preferred retail spot for snow sports customers.

“The Show was awesome! Tons of traffic and excitement, which we were really excited about. We’ll be back every year moving forward. We’ve gotten new business from being here, and as a launch year, it’s been absolutely great.”
Tracy Bordwell, Creative and Technical Design, Fate Clothing

"As a snow-sports journalist, I find the SIA Snow Show to be an invaluable resource. There's nowhere else I can survey all of the latest gear and get face time with interesting suppliers, retailers, athletes, and other industry movers all in one place."
Sam Bass, editor-in-chief, Skiing Magazine

“You have everyone in one place, so you can see everything you need and get an idea of where trends are going. It’s a good overview of what’s going on in the industry. Last year we picked up a couple new lines that I wouldn’t have necessarily picked up had I not gone to SIA. The Show gets you psyched.”
Jim Slanetz, Owner, Board Bin, ID

“From our standpoint, our line has gotten larger each year, and the exposure at the Show is huge. There are so many people here and this Show seems to grow every year, it’s really beneficial for our sales reps to be here.”
Carrie Crogan, Trade Show Coordinator, Under Armour
