Approximately 20 years ago I decided to take on a role as a snowboard sales rep. I had pulled many years prior at a snowboard shop in Portsmouth NH called Slackers and working as a sub rep for Wayne Dills at the same time. Then came the time to go it alone and I picked up Santa Cruz snowboards as my first line.

I grew up on Whidbey Island in Washington State and my grandparents got me onto the ski bus for XMas in 1986. From there I started snowboarding early on and came back from a day at Mt. Baker raving to my folks. The next weekend we went up as a family and all fell in love with surfing on the snow. I could never get enough...

As a snow sports enthusiast since childhood, I began my career in the snow industry as a buyer and manager for the Virginia retailer,  Ski World. From 1995 to 2005 I worked with Nick Savage and his  team, learning the ins and outs of the retail side of the business.  During that time I cultivated many key business and customer  relationships – relationships I maintain today

With the support of my family Sherri Matt and Shaina I was able leave the comfort of what was my career at the time to look towards my desired path in the snow sports industry. I accepted a position with a small but growing company Ovo Helmets in 2002 as the sales rep for the Mid-Atlantic region.

As a kid from the relative flatlands of Michigan and Ohio, I was introduced to skiing in the early 70,s by my Aunt, Uncle and cousins from Ohio on a trip with them to Snowtrails in Mansfield, OH. Then shortly there after, my parents took us to Skyline Ski Area in N Mich for our first family ski trip followed shortly by a great trek to Boyne. I instantly got the ski buz and aggressively embraced the sport as young kid growing up in the Mich/Ohio area.

I grew up in Fairport outside of Rochester in the very snowy Upstate New York region.   Winter sports were a way of life and served as a way for family to spend time together.  Like many in the Snow Sports industry, my current employment has roots in a car full of skis and a road trip across the country to find bigger mountains and deeper snow.

“The Show was awesome! Tons of traffic and excitement, which we were really excited about. We’ll be back every year moving forward. We’ve gotten new business from being here, and as a launch year, it’s been absolutely great.”
Tracy Bordwell, Creative and Technical Design, Fate Clothing

"As a snow-sports journalist, I find the SIA Snow Show to be an invaluable resource. There's nowhere else I can survey all of the latest gear and get face time with interesting suppliers, retailers, athletes, and other industry movers all in one place."
Sam Bass, editor-in-chief, Skiing Magazine

“You have everyone in one place, so you can see everything you need and get an idea of where trends are going. It’s a good overview of what’s going on in the industry. Last year we picked up a couple new lines that I wouldn’t have necessarily picked up had I not gone to SIA. The Show gets you psyched.”
Jim Slanetz, Owner, Board Bin, ID

“From our standpoint, our line has gotten larger each year, and the exposure at the Show is huge. There are so many people here and this Show seems to grow every year, it’s really beneficial for our sales reps to be here.”
Carrie Crogan, Trade Show Coordinator, Under Armour
