I grew up on Whidbey Island in Washington State and my grandparents got me onto the ski bus for XMas in 1986. From there I started snowboarding early on and came back from a day at Mt. Baker raving to my folks. The next weekend we went up as a family and all fell in love with surfing on the snow. I could never get enough... I was the eternal grom and my life was focused on getting to the Cascades over the next decade. Growing up in Washington you couldn't help but be drawn to the great brands and icons of the sport that were coming out of the NW. I was seeing the MBHC, the founders of Mervin Mfg, Craig, and all my childhood heroes in the back shop of the Mt. Baker Snowboard Shop. I was trying to live the ski bum lifestyle, while maintaining a 9 to 5(ish) schedule building houses and screen printing. I then discovered surfing and met the founders of Mervin Mfg in the water. That led to a job finishing snowboards at the Mervin Seattle factory in my mid 20s. I made snowboards for a few years and worked hard to keep a foot in the door for other opportunities at Lib Tech and Gnu. An in-house CSR position opened up at Mervin; Mike Olson, Pete Saari, and Jason Locking gave me the job and it changed my life. Out of production and into a position that allowed me to see the big picture and build relationships with retailers, other reps and I slowly became a part of the Mervin family. Ten years and countless tradeshows later I was given the ultimate gift... the honor of becoming the NW Rep for Mervin Mfg. That led to a job offer to rep POW Gloves as well. Having two of the best brands on earth landed two great guys to support the NW territory in Tim Lawler and Mikey Swearingen. I couldn't dream up a better job and lifestyle. My mom is still tripping that my snowboard addiction created a career that has spanned 15 plus years.

There has been a great legacy of Mervin Reps and retailers in the NW. Most do it for the love of sliding on snow and being in the mountains. For me to sell hand made shred tools and quality products to people that get pure enjoyment out of them and help to build an economy for like minded people is a dream come true.
