2012 US Rep of the Year

Northeast (ME/ VT/ NH/ MA/ RI/ CT)

Ivar Dahl

Eighteen years ago under bright blue skies and working a section of the U.S. National Alpine Championships in Park City, UT I interviewed with Tecnica/Volkl Director of Promotions Dan McKenna for the position of New England Regional Promotions Assistant (RPA).  Being a NH boy and getting tired of all that sun and snow I quickly jumped at the chance to move back East…

Working in a variety of capacities at Tecnica and learning the trade via the likes of John Stahler, Mike Noonan, Greg Grip, Sam Cook, Andrew Shaw, Scott Heald, and countless other Tecncia Group family members the transition to an independent representative was fairly seamless.  Being “in-house” at Tecnica I was fortunate enough to meet and work with many of New England’s specialty retailers via race days, pre season sales, product launches, and trade fairs.  It’s been the perfect storm of having great mentors to learn from coupled with a fantastic base of retailers who have become both business partners and friends.

More recently my business partner Dan Mitchell and I have added lines to our Coldfront Sales Group anchored by Tecnica and Blizzard.  Premium sport and fashions brands such as Powderhorn apparel and Shred/Slytech have joined our quiver as has the accessory line Faststrap.

Being named Rep of the year is quite the honor.  Having a career in an industry I love, family and friends to enjoy it with, and the freedom to run my own business is what makes this my dream job.

“The Show was awesome! Tons of traffic and excitement, which we were really excited about. We’ll be back every year moving forward. We’ve gotten new business from being here, and as a launch year, it’s been absolutely great.”
Tracy Bordwell, Creative and Technical Design, Fate Clothing

"As a snow-sports journalist, I find the SIA Snow Show to be an invaluable resource. There's nowhere else I can survey all of the latest gear and get face time with interesting suppliers, retailers, athletes, and other industry movers all in one place."
Sam Bass, editor-in-chief, Skiing Magazine

“You have everyone in one place, so you can see everything you need and get an idea of where trends are going. It’s a good overview of what’s going on in the industry. Last year we picked up a couple new lines that I wouldn’t have necessarily picked up had I not gone to SIA. The Show gets you psyched.”
Jim Slanetz, Owner, Board Bin, ID

“From our standpoint, our line has gotten larger each year, and the exposure at the Show is huge. There are so many people here and this Show seems to grow every year, it’s really beneficial for our sales reps to be here.”
Carrie Crogan, Trade Show Coordinator, Under Armour
