2012 US Rep of the Year

Rockies (WY/ UT/ CO/ NM/ TX)

Nick Vigos

I was lucky enough to be born into the ski industry.  My father was the director of the ski school at Brighton and then later Park City.  My mother was a buyer and has worked for many Specialty Retailers through out my life.  Growing up I was either on the hill skiing or working in a shop. In High School I started working retail and later became one of the buyers for a local Specialty shop, The Sports Den.

While working there I was hired to be the Tech Rep for Rossignol. After two years of being a tech rep I graduated from Westminster College and was at the proverbial fork in the road. I had a job offer to go to Africa and work for a mining company or I was approached by my predecessor Jim “Cowboy” Mchough to start working for Dalbello Sports selling Blizzard skis in the Northwest and the Intermountain.

After two years I became an Independent rep and took over the Intermountain territory for Dalbello Sports.  In the past 4 years I have added Ryan Davenport to my agency.  We currently represent Dalbello, Under Armour, Giro, Sun Valley Ski Tools, Ion, Select, Master fit, GVS and Asterisk. I live in Sandy, Utah with my wife Mary and my 5 year old, Cash.

I want to thank my retailers for nominating me.  I am honored to receive this award but feel that I could not have done this without the help of my partner, Ryan Davenport. I want to thank the brands we represent for the support and being great business partners. I have been lucky enough to be involved with great companies and great people that all have a common goal. I also want to thank all of my customers that have been so loyal and supportive to me through out the years. It has been a collaborative effort, without this support I would not have been able to achieve this award.

“The Show was awesome! Tons of traffic and excitement, which we were really excited about. We’ll be back every year moving forward. We’ve gotten new business from being here, and as a launch year, it’s been absolutely great.”
Tracy Bordwell, Creative and Technical Design, Fate Clothing

"As a snow-sports journalist, I find the SIA Snow Show to be an invaluable resource. There's nowhere else I can survey all of the latest gear and get face time with interesting suppliers, retailers, athletes, and other industry movers all in one place."
Sam Bass, editor-in-chief, Skiing Magazine

“You have everyone in one place, so you can see everything you need and get an idea of where trends are going. It’s a good overview of what’s going on in the industry. Last year we picked up a couple new lines that I wouldn’t have necessarily picked up had I not gone to SIA. The Show gets you psyched.”
Jim Slanetz, Owner, Board Bin, ID

“From our standpoint, our line has gotten larger each year, and the exposure at the Show is huge. There are so many people here and this Show seems to grow every year, it’s really beneficial for our sales reps to be here.”
Carrie Crogan, Trade Show Coordinator, Under Armour
