2012 US Rep of the Year

As I enter into my 20th season in the Wintersports business as a Sales Representative, I am as impassioned and motivated as ever and this honor of SIA Rep of the Year for the Great Lakes region keeps me charging. Like most of the people who chose this industry as their career I started skiing when I was just a little grom, on a hill that was not much bigger than I.

Living in the middle of many great Northern Michigan resorts, skiing and winter became an integral part of my life. Hence, I did the only logical thing a lifelong ski bum could do and I went and found a job in a ski shop. After several years in retail working as a tech, salesperson, and a buyer for some truly great people I became a tech rep; still chasing the dream… After a few years I received my first territory as a principal rep in the Midwest for Nordica.  

I am now partnered with my amazing wife Karen in the-agency representing such innovative brands as Nordica, Giro, Orage, Level, Discrete, and Conformable. Our partnership keeps me inspired and driven to accomplish more. Our mission is to best represent our dealer base and brands with a goal of long-term mutually beneficial successes. We truly believe that “Sales are just part of it.” The many relationships and friendships we have developed over the years with our clients keep me humbled by the amazing people we work with every day.

I still love to ski, be it here at home or chasing turns in the mountains. But without a doubt my best ski days are now ripping around with my two little ski buddies; my children. Follow us on our adventures on Twitter @johnkerkhof.
