Speaker Line Up Includes Industry Game Changers
Denver, CO (January 12, 2014) -- The ASSEMBLY, a day-long confab of thought leaders and researchers from the mountain travel industry and beyond, returns for its second run at the upcoming SIA Snow Show being held at the Denver Convention Center. Being held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014, the forum is strategically produced at a time that coincides with business planning for the upcoming fiscal year.
“For those who believe that our industry’s future is different than our past, the stage is being well set,” says event founder and organizer Ralf Garrison. Garrison is director of Destimetrics, a Denver-based mountain travel research firm. “Building upon what we learned last year from the inaugural ASSEMBLY, we’re excited about this year’s expanded format and we anticipate a robust industry-wide conversation that advances the interests of all players.”
Special guests to this year’s event include James Seidman, senior travel executive, Google Travel; Jake Carpenter, founder, Burton; Brent Bellm, COO; HomeAway.com, and Steve Rice, senior managing director, CNL Financial Group. The four join Garrison in a moderated session that zeros in on the trends, influencers, and disrupters that just might change the game, and share their insight in a broad-based conversation about what they see coming around the corner that mandates special strategic consideration.
This year The ASSEMBLY 2014 features a two-part agenda with distinct half-day segments including an opening three-part series of General Sessions. Including in the series is a State of the Industry assessment as presented by Michael Berry, president, National Ski Areas Association, Melanie Mills, president and CEO, Colorado Ski Country USA, Nathan Rafferty, president, Ski Utah, and Kelly Davis, research director, Snowsports Industries America (SIA).
New this year, ASSEMBLY organizers have taken a novel approach toward creating a more interactive forum by asking attendees to vote on which issues and topics they want to address in the afternoon breakout sessions. Featured in the afternoon are two exclusive three-part session tracks including Destination Summer, that assesses the size, scope, and opportunities within multi-season tourism; and Travel Marketing Technology, also a three-part session track exploring new media channels and technology, with discussion on how to develop and utilize both toward building revenues. Other sessions take a look at the profile of the modern consumer and his or her purchasing habits, as well as non-traditional bed base inventory with an overall assessment of its impact to the industry.
