WE HAVE OUR WINNERS! BRO’D TO SIA OFFERS TWO UP-AND-COMING WOMEN THE ULTIMATE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT THE INDUSTRY
Congrats to Skiing Magazine’s Bro’d to SIA Winner, Devin Dube, and TransWorld Snowboarding’s Winner, Hailey Ranconi! Both women entered our Bro’d to SIA Contest in December and will be joining us at the Show to find out what it’s like to have a career in the Snow Sports Industry.
Devin Dube has been working at East Coast Alpine in Danvers, MA since graduating from Salem State University with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Dube worked her way up quickly at East Coast Alpine, from working in the shop, to being in charge of social media, to her current position as Marketing Manager.
Dube says she’s looking forward to coming to the Show so she can learn more about what a marketing job in the industry would be like, and to walk around and soak up the atmosphere.
“I know I want to stick to marketing in the snow sports industry,” she commented. “My current job has been great because it has helped me learn that marketing and communications is what I’m most interested in. I like this field because you get to meet great people, and the work is always fun.”
Hailey Ranconi is a student at the University of Vermont. She worked at the Ski Haus in Poughkeepsie, NY for the five years before college, and still works there when she’s home from school and for special events throughout the season. In addition to her studies, Hailey is the events coordinator for the UVM Ski and Snowboard Club, serves on the advisory committee for Burton’s Chill Program and is a member of UVM’s Snowboard Team, competing in rail jams as often as her schedule will allow.
When we asked how she does it all, Ranconi explained, “They’re all things I really like to do, so it’s not like work. Being the Events Coordinator for the club has shown me how much I would like to do something similar in my career, and working with the Chill program is important to me because snowboarding has done so much for me in my life – I really like to give back when I can.”
Ranconi says she’s looking forward to the Show so she can talk to people about their own careers, get ideas about what’s possible, and home in on what she might want to do in the future.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Hailey and Devin and welcome them to the Show, the community and the industry –bright women like these two will keep the Snow Sports Industry growing and thriving, and you are all potential mentors who can help them along. Thanks to Skiing Magazine and TransWorld Snowboarding for hosting the contest with us, and congrats again to Hailey and Devin, on getting Bro’d to SIA!
