SHOW CHECK IN: SHOP TALK WITH SHANNON CAREY, SMITH OPTICS REP FOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
Shannon Carey, Smith Optics Rep for Northern CaliforniaSIA:
What's your favorite thing about the SIA Snow Show?

SC: Having the entire industry gathered in one place to celebrate the year and unveil new products for the following year.

SIA: Do you have a favorite event during the Show?

SC: Smith Optics always has a party for our retailers and it’s always a fun time.

SIA: What's your favorite after-show-hours activity to do in Denver?

SC: It is always fun to see most of your friends at the lobby bar at the Hyatt right after the show ends! I have also been fortunate to catch a Colorado Avalanche game each year as well - this year maybe the NBA.

SIA: The holidays are such a busy time in our industry - do you get a chance to celebrate with family and friends, and can you get out on the snow at all, or is there too much work?

SC: I am able to celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas with family and I am definitely working right up until that point. Most of my time on snow is reserved for after the holidays, however if the snow is good and plentiful I try to get out and enjoy it for at least a few hours!

SIA: Which is your home mountain or favorite mountain in your area and why?

SC: Squaw Valley is my home mountain because it's where all my friends are. It has the most exciting and best terrain accessed off my favorite lift, KT22.

SIA: Last but not least - please fill in the blank: "When I'm out on the mountain for the day, I can't live without. . ."

SC: Of course, my quiver of lenses for my Smith I/O Goggles!
