IN NEW ENGLAND, THE LEAVES ARE TURNING, WINTER’S CHILL IS IN THE AIR, AND EXCITEMENT FOR THE 2014 SNOW SHOW IS ALREADY BUILDING

John Egan, Sugarbush VP and Chief Recreation Officer.The fall foliage is nearing peak in Vermont’s Mad River Valley, and after a dusting of snow on the mountaintops in the past few days, everyone in the snow sports industry is getting excited for another great season ahead. For many of the industry’s key players, the 2014 SIA Snow Show is a major part of the season’s plans. A quick tour around the Valley gave us gorgeous views of the red and orange leaves as well as a sense of the excitement building for this year’s Show.

We caught up with John Egan, adventure skier and Sugarbush Resort VP and Chief Recreation Officer, as he was getting ready to lead Vermont Senator Pat Leahy on a foliage hike with a group of constituents.  “The most important thing is community, and the Show is where our community gathers,” Sugarbush Resort, September 27, 2013.Egan said. “I love going to the Show because the people are what make this industry special and it’s great to be a part of it!”

Jim Robertson, VP of Sales at Sugarbush Resort, said the Show is a must-do on his calendar.  “For me, Jim Robertson at 2013 On-snow Demo.going to the Show is extremely valuable because I can meet with all the executives and decision makers right on the Show floor. It’s the best place for me to go to have an opportunity to negotiate pricing, talk about new programs, or sit down with marketing execs and work out plans. It’s great to be able to get decisions made and then implement those plans right away.” 

Annemarie Furey, an industry consultant and principal of Product Think Tank LLC, said the Snow Show is important to her because of the face to face contact with industry professionals and the ability to feel the energy our industry creates.

I like to really observe the vibe around the products and launches; you can see people’s reaction as they’re stopping or walking by, and it’s interesting to see what pulls them in. As reports of early snow come in from around the country, and we increasingly take peeks at the Farmers Almanac’s optimistic forecasts, it’s clearly time to start looking forward to the gathering of our community in January – can’t wait to see you at the Show!

After the SIA Snow Show closes, 3,000+ snow sports pros will head to the hills for the industry’s annual On-Snow Demo/Ski-Ride Fest and Nordic Demo being held in 2014 at Copper Mountain Resort February 3-4, 2014.

At this new location, only 74 miles away from Denver, an award-winning and naturally divided trail network in the Colorado Rockies will showcase the 2014/15 gear you exhibited at the Snow Show. SHARE YOUR INDUSTRY EXPERTISE: PRESENT AT THE SIA SNOW SHOW

Is there an issue or topic you wish the snow sports industry knew more about? The SIA Snow Show is your chance to share your subject-matter expertise with the entire industry.

If you’re a Supporting Member, you can present during a limited number of one-hour seminars at the 2014 SIA Snow Show on topics that are educational for SIA members or retailers (no sales pitches). Your session will be included in the official schedule of events on the Show app, website, interactive floor plan and Daily.

INDUSTRY ALUMNI — YOU’RE INVITED! COME CELEBRATE SIA’S 60TH

Everyone who has ever been part of the snow sports industry is part of the industry family, even after they retire or move on. You can help commemorate SIA’s 60th anniversary at the 2014 SIA Snow Show by providing contact information for reps, retailers and suppliers you know from years past to be included in the SIA Alumni database. This will give us the information we need to invite them to register for the 2014 SIA Snow Show and the Industry Breakfast held at the Show.

NEW CREDIT CARD FEE POLICY

The SIA Board of Directors has authorized a 3 percent fee for each credit card payment made to SIA. As credit card payments become more common with our members, the cost to SIA in processing fees has grown to more than $60,000 annually.

Wire transfer payments are also subject fees. Checks, electronic ACH payments and SIA Snow Show badge charges are not subject to any processing fees.
