SHOW CHECK-IN: SHOP TALK WITH JOSH DAVIS AT CORE CONCEPTS
SIA: What’s new that you’re looking forward to bringing to the Show?
JD: We’re really looking forward to showing our technical outerwear line. We’re expanding it to Womens, Mens and pants, so it’s kind of a new a new area for us. The jacket has a 3-way hood, a zip-out powder skirt and a heat reflective liner that retains body heat, so it’s a full techincal piece that we’re excited about. Another product we’re looking forward to bringing is our Whiskey River Shirt. It’s a snap button style with nylon coated fabric and a jersey liner so it looks like a button down shirt, but it’s a fully functional base layer. We’re adding new colors and styles; it’s a cool piece that I think people will really like seeing at the Show.
SIA: What’s your top reason for coming to the Show?
JD: We came to SIA the first time four years ago when we were a smaller company and we really didn’t have the resources to take advantage of the Show. This is our first time back since then; now we feel like we have the tools in place to take it to the next level of distribution and to a wider array of folks. We have a strong following in the Pacific Northwest and we have dealers around the country, but this year at at SIA we hope to expose our brand to a wider market, build our rep base, and let people know we’re legit and we’re here to stay.
SIA: What do you do for fun when you’re not in the office?
JD: One of our in-house people is the coach of our local freestyle team, so we’ll tag along with him to some of his meets, we’ll probably take a few ski trips to Canada, and we’ll spend a lot of time in the backcountry around here. Then usually in the spring we do a high water Middle Fork raft trip. I’m hoping to get a permit and do it again this year.
SIA: Please fill in the blank – “When I’m out skiing for the day I can’t live without . . .”
JD: Powder in my face. And adherence to our company credo: “From First Chair to Last Call.”
