Nordic- A Curated View

Quotes from the Snow

  • I concentrate a lot on Nordic, and there are a lot of really great new products out there. It’s a very strong business for us--it’s growing and it is great to see the enthusiasm.
    Spike Clayton, Skirack, Burlington, VT
  • “The conversations have been incredibly friendly; the only issue for me is that we ran out of product. For us it’s a great thing, it means the pipeline is clean of product!”
Isaac Wilson, Nordic Product Category Manager, Salomon USA
  • "We have been taking orders, and for Nordic product in particular we’ve been writing a lot of orders — good business both for next year as well as the current season.
    Bill McSherry, Vice President, Elan
  • When we came out here we’re focusing on the brands that aren’t going to be at our local demo. I think it is probably one of the most important things to be educated in the gear. It is everyone together.
Josh Bremer, Glacier Ski Shop, Glacier, WA
  • “The terrain was really great for testing. It is really great to be able to compare so much equipment side-by-side. Definitely worth coming!”
Adam Jonson, Pioneer Ski and Board, Osseo, MN
  • I really enjoy the immediacy of being at the Nordic demo and the ambiance of being on the snow. You have to put the sales pitches and other business concerns to the backburner and just have fun.
Phil Leeds, Skinny Skis, Inc., Jackson, WY

As the snow kept falling, sales kept growing at retail and Nordic equipment sales finished the season up 15% in units and 14% in dollars with a total of $40.5 million in retail sales (US). Nordic had a good season in 2012/2013 bringing out 3.3M participants to the trails, 2013/2014 participation numbers will be released later this summer

The Exhibitor & Brand Directory Search

Nordic hardgoods, softgoods and accessories are a major part of the Show with over 50 brands exhibiting each year, you’ll see all the latest in gear innovations. Seeing product is only the first step in knowing what’s right for your shop and your customers. Beyond the Show Floor, Nordic Brands and Buyers head to the industry’s only National On-Snow Nordic Demo. Held at Copper Mountain Resort, this year will bring together the Nordic community alongside the On-Snow Demo/Ski-Ride Fest.

Cross Country and Snowshoe are not just essential to the Snow Show, but to the entire industry. Their ease of access, health benefits and relatively low required skill level, make them a great entry point for those new to snow sports. SIA has made Nordic the cornerstone of its WinterTrails, a consumer program designed to grow participation. Winter Trails introduces new participants to snowshoeing and cross country at over 100 sites throughout the US.
